Magus Engineering is a leading drilling and completions engineering and wellsite supervision company. Since 1986, we have managed all aspects of wellsite operations, from construction and drilling to completion, workovers, and abandonments. General Experience
• Deep, high pressure, managed pressure drilling horizontal experience in Montney & Duvernay zones
• Experience in oil, heavy oil, bitumen, helium and natural gas well types
• Extensive experience in Oilsands Development projects
• Significant experience in Horizontal well drilling and completions
• Several years of heavy oil drilling & completions experience – both vertical and horizontal well types
• Experience with a variety of completion operations including fracturing, gas completions, acidizing, coiled tubing work, testing and equipment set-up.
• Experience drilling and completing disposal wells – including a high pressure acid gas disposal well in SE Saskatchewan.
•Broad variety of experience with well abandonments – including gas migration problems, corrosion issues and difficult surface logistics.
Horizontal Drilling
• Drilled and completed over 1000 horizontal wells
• Well types include open-hole, ball-drop, sleeve frac, acid frac and plug & perf
• Huge variety of well characteristics including high temperature/high pressure, high anti-collision, multiple casing strings, pad drilling and acid gas injectors.
Oilsands Fort McMurray
• Drilled over 1,250 oilsand delineation wells
• Wells involved extensive coring, logging, and formation testing
• Conducted caprock testing and DFIT analysis
• Managed all aspects of the project, including camps and construction
• Had up to 22 drilling rigs working concurrently during one season
Southeast Saskatchewan / Manitoba
• Drilled and completed over 700 wells in SE Saskatchewan and Manitoba
• Operations included horizontal open-hole, multi-lateral, ball-drop frac and sleeve frac type wells
• Had up to 16 drilling rigs working concurrently at times
Heavy Oil Wells
• Drilled and completed over 900 wells in central eastern Alberta and western Saskatchewan
• Vertical, horizontal, multi-leg horizontal and disposal wells
• Sand clean-outs, surface equipment set-ups and construction operations
Albania
• Looked after drilling / completions operations for Bankers Petroleum in the Patos/Marinza field in Albania
• Drilled/completed over 100 wells - primarily horizontal but some disposal and 5 thermal project wells involving coring
• Very intricate directional drilling plans, unpredictable faults and unconsolidated sand drilling
• Logistically difficult project due to limited access to services in foreign country
